The Hidden Ones

Back in January of this year, I received a word from the Lord.  I wasn’t sure exactly who it was for or what the timeframe was, so I sat on it and prayed about it.  As I waited and prayed the Lord gave me some additional insight that I will share at the end.

Below are the words he gave me:

There is an army of mavericks arising.  Those who do not follow the ways of the world.  Who are not ashamed to blaze their own path and march to the beat of my drum.  They are focused on their calling and remain true to my word.  They are “dressed ready for service with their lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks, they can immediately open the door for him.” (Luke 12:35 NIV) They are watching and waiting, they are prepared for my return, and they are going about my business. They are those who carry my light and do not cover it. They are the ones to whom I say “Arise, shine for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.  See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.  Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.” Isaiah 60:1-3 NIV

Over the following months he continued to show me things about this “army”.  That they would be tenderhearted and compassionate, like the verse from Ephesians 4:32. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” That they had been through a wilderness season in preparation and refinement, they had walked (or are walking) through the dry places and the barren lands, faithfully following the Lord.

This is not an army that wars in the natural, but one that wars according to the Spirit, in the secret places.  One that has learned how to put on the full armor of God and take a stand against the devil’s schemes.  One that walks according to the Word of God, consecrated, sanctified and set apart for service.

He took me to the story of Gideon. Specifically, the portion where the LORD gave Gideon his assignment, and Gideon questioned his ability saying, “My clan is the weakest in Manasseh and I am the least in my family.” The LORD answered, “I will be with you…” (Judges 6:15). The Lord told Gideon to “…Tear down [his] father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. Then build a proper kind of altar to the LORD your God on top of this height.” (Judges 6:25-26).

It will be those who are willing to tear down the false idols and altars of those who have gone before them and in their place build new ones to the Lord.  Ones that exalt His name, His peace, His love, His righteousness and His faithfulness. Ones who are humble because they know how great and awesome their God is and they are covered by the blood of Jesus.

Like Gideon’s army, it will only require a few.

It is an invitation to all, but few will choose it.  These are those who are willing to give up the acceptance of men for the glory of God.  Those who have learned to listen and hear the voice of God and follow in faith and assurance.

Are you one of them?
