I know a lot of people this past year that have been waiting on God to move in certain areas of their lives, including me. Not only waiting but believing fully he is going to move and act on their behalf in different situations.
As I was walking on the beach back in July at sunrise I stopped to take in the beauty—the sunrise, the waves, the vastness of the ocean. I was standing there on the sand close enough to the water that every so often the waves would come up over my feet. When I stopped and looked down there were hardly any shells around, but as I stood there, after the second wave came it revealed hundreds of tiny shells that had been at my feet all along.
In the moment, the Lord said, “This is what faith is like.” You are standing on the promise, standing on the things you are believing for all along. You can’t see it and yet it is right underneath you the whole time—waiting for my timing, waiting for my revelation, waiting for the moment I ordain it to come forth—the moment I know it will have the best and greatest impact on your life. It is a picture of Hebrews 11:1, “the assurance of what we hope for and the promise of what we cannot see.” Just because you don’t see it with your physical eyes does not mean it is not there. Already formed, already prepared, already waiting. Just as those seashells were there all along, hiding underneath the sand, at the right moment they were all revealed.
It reminds me of Daniel 2:22 a verse I love and think of when I see 2:22 on the clock (If you’ve read Expecting Faith, you know what I’m talking about). It says, “He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.”
God, the creator of all things, knows all things and is able to reveal all things in his time and for his purposes. My encouragement to you today is if you are someone who is waiting in faith, keep standing and believing that the one who reveals deep and hidden things has not forgotten you. He knows right where you are standing and he knows the best moment to reveal the things you are standing on. He is a very good God, with good intentions, good gifts and good plans for you. Never let the wait cause you to think otherwise.
